Færder.

Rocking the cliffs at the end of the world.

Hiking along the rocks at the End of the World, it’s hard to believe you’re only a 20 minutes drive from Nøtterøy.

It’s wild, it’s beautiful. It’s almost as if you are at the end of the world. The air is clean and refreshing. The outside world seems far away. Færder nasjonalpark is a gem, regardless of season. Tjøme and Nøtterøy are surrounded by an aura of eternal summer. Whereas Færder…? Færder lighthouse has guided ships to safety through fierce winter storms. That’s what makes this area so unique. It’s lush and summary. It’s stormy and fascinating. Welcome to Færder.

Færder fun facts

Did you know…

  • Maritime icon. Færder lighthouse has been in operation on Store Færder since 1697 and on the small island of Tristein since 1857. During the summer, you can take a water taxi and visit Signalboligen. We organize sightseeing along the coast.

  • Safe navigation. At the far end of Tjøme there’s an area once called Helgerødtangen. Since the beginning of the 20th century, however, it’s been known as the "End of the World". Back in the day, this used to be a popular hang out for local navigators looking to make money from guiding the ships through the dangerous waters.

  • Noble heritage. The three Bolærne islands have been part of both of the royal Sem kongsgård and the county of Jarlsberg. In 1916, the idyllic islands were expropriated in order to defend the navy's main base in Horten. These days, Bolærne represent the ultimate image of a lazy and unspoilt summer. We arrange unforgettable island trips including accommodation.
